Corning Life Sciences Supports Scientific Community’s Needs During COVID-19

For more than 100 years, Corning Life Sciences' technologies have played a key role in enabling scientists to make medical breakthroughs and develop medicines that help us live longer, healthier lives. As a worldwide leader in laboratory consumables and benchtop equipment, Corning Life Sciences is fully committed to serving the scientific research and bioprocessing communities as they continue their essential work during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The division of Corning Incorporated recently supported New York State’s efforts to look after its citizens and manage the high levels of COVID-19 across the region. Working closely with the Department of Health, Corning has prioritized and expedited shipments of key laboratory consumable products used for COVID-19 applications to support testing efforts taking place at the New York State Laboratory.

“For over 100 years, Corning Life Sciences has supported critical life sciences breakthroughs with our laboratory consumables and equipment,” said John Tobin, vice president and general manager, Corning Life Sciences. “Today, we are proud to be able to continue this mission through supporting the scientists who are conducting ground-breaking research to halt this novel coronavirus at an unprecedented speed. We are happy to answer Governor Cuomo’s call for help in this hour of need.”

Corning Life Sciences has also answered Governor Andrew Cuomo’s call for New York State-based corporations to help increase the state’s supply capacity amid the ongoing pandemic, donating 60,000 Falcon® 15mL centrifuge tubes and 40,000 Corning® 4mL cryogenic vials to the New York State Laboratory.

"The generosity of these companies, organizations and individuals — and many others coming forward every day to offer support — will play a critical role in our mission to bolster our hospital surge capacity, support frontline workers and get people the help they need,” said Governor Andrew Cuomo. “On behalf of the family of New York, I am deeply grateful for their generosity. We will get through this difficult time together, with the kindness, strength and tenacity that New York is known for."
