New Wireless Software Development Center in India Expands Global 5G Innovation Capabilities

Did you know that global 5G connections are expected to number approximately 5.9 billion by the end of 2027, according to5G Americas? That’s why Corning, a leader in wireless solutions, is intensifying its research and development initiatives around 5G software solutions for telecommunications networks, as we look to help our customers unlock more and more opportunities.

Working closely with teams from our wireless development centers in the Silicon Valley and in Israel, the center’s team will cover the full spectrum of software and systems engineering capabilities needed for state-of-the-art innovative wireless communication products.

Corning India development center’s team will help develop fully virtualized and cloud-managed innovative 5G wireless solutions for public and private 5G enterprise networks.

This new center builds on our commitment and expertise in thewireless market, exemplified by ourEveron®portfolio. Corning Wireless has cemented its place in the small-cell industry by being the preferred vendor for indoor5G radio access network (RAN)– a major component of a wireless telecommunications system for tier 1 cellular mobile operators. Our cutting-edge mmWave indoor solution has won many awards in the industry for pioneering high-capacity indoor 5G. Our R&D teams in India, and globally, will continue to innovate in thedistributed antenna system (DAS)space.

Marc J. Bolickwas appointed vice president, Wireless Business Leader, for Corning Optical Communications in May 2021. In this role, Bolick is responsible for the Optical Communications Wireless business unit, including iBwave, and for identifying and developing products and business opportunities within in-building cellular markets in the United States.

During his 23 years with Corning, Bolick has led several commercial and product commercialization initiatives. He led the commercial team that established Corning as the primary supplier of optical connectivity solutions for Verizon’s Fios program, the first large-scale deployment of fiber-to-the-home in North America. He established the first product line management organization focused on fiber-to-the-home optical connectivity.
