Hot Cell Services (HCS), located in Kent, WA is part of Corning Incorporated, one of the world’s oldest and largest glass companies. We are the leader in the radiation shielding protection industry and we have been manufacturing radiation shielding windows for over 40 years.

Position Summary:

While a part of a multi-billion-dollar global corporation, we are a small operation independently responsible for the design and manufacture of our own products. Given our very efficient size, we are seeking a multi-talented individual capable of leading our Operations and EHS Departments. This position provides leadership to the production team members and field service crews, including customer interface, project scheduling, safety management and equipment preparation. The main complexity of this role comes from scheduling and performing management activities both at field site locations and at HCS workshop. This requires skillful long-range planning and significant amount of multi-tasking and project management.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

The following covers the most significant duties performedand is not limited to ocassional work assignments not mentioned.

Operations Essential Functions

  • Supervises and leads HCS shop team, including provision of mentoring and goal setting for team members to ensure work is completed in a safe and timely manner.
  • Supervises and leads HCS field services, including customer interface, project scheduling, project management, safety management and equipment preparation
  • Performs sourcing and purchasing as required for assigned projects.
  • Develops manufacturing guides, procedures, travelers, and illustrations to assist assembly personnel.
  • Provides training and sustaining support to personnel involved in the manufacturing processes.
  • Coordinates with Engineers and Project Managers to ensure the successful delivery of systems and products within defined schedules.
  • Performs design and calculations verification of all engineering related projects.

EHS Essential Functions

  • Inspects the facility to identify safety, health, and environmental risks.
  • Manages site EHS database.

  • Develops health and safety procedures for all areas of the company in accordance with Corning standards.
  • Monitors compliance with safety and industrial hygiene procedures.

  • Maintains records of discharge of, or employee exposure to, hazardous waste and/or pollutants, as required.
  • Maintains reporting system for all work-related incident reports in accordance with Corning and OSHA requirements.

Experience/Education Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, civil, or manufacturing engineering
  • 5 to 10 years of experience with mechanical/manufacturing shop supervision
  • 3 years of experience with application of environmental regulations and policies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • AutoCAD proficiency required plus SolidWorks knowledge desired.
  • Technical aptitude, power equipment or automotive repair knowledge.
  • Basic electrical systems knowledge and basic structural design knowledge preferred.

Travel Requirements:

  • Up to 25% domestically and internationally to perform field services at customer sites

The range for this position is $89,534 - $110,686. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
