Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry. This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Purpose of the Position:

• Manages the PEx Project Portfolio for a plant or site location assuring the effective use of the different improvement methodologies (DMAIC, Lean, PQA, DESGN, etc.) towards the achievement of plant/site strategic goals.
• Assist and coach belts and managers in the project nomination, selection, implementation and documentation processes and are actively engaged in advising plant management and leaders on the use of Quality tools, methods and processes.
• Develop TPOCS Plant PEx and Lean culture, and Build up manufacturing activities linked with P&L.

Day to Day Responsibilities:

• Ensures the successful execution of the PEx Portfolio and its alignment with the Division and Corporate strategic goals.
• Consistently improves the QCDMS+I metrics in alignment with the business strategy for the Division/Function.
• Promotes the correct use of the DMAIC/DESGN/PQA/Lean tools.
• Oversees belt utilization, assisting management in achieving maximum belt capacity.
• Executes a training strategy to achieve the goals of the plant or site location.
• Supports Corporate Quality and the Division Champion with corporate initiatives (e.g. training development, process changes, global translations of PEx materials).
• Leads the Belts in the site location, through a Community of Practice, for enhanced sharing of project successes, tool methodologies or new training programs.
• Works closely with operations and Engineering teams to drive process consistency and deliver great products and services to our customers.
• Promoting the participation of all departments in the identification of cost reduction or improvement opportunities.
• Setup Manufacturing Standard cycle time and Identify opportunities to improve Availability, Performance, and Yield.
• Develop TPOCS Plant PEx and Lean culture, and Build up manufacturing activities linked with P&L.

Required Skills:

• Demonstrated track record of Engineering / IE accomplishment such as delivery of sustainable incremental improvement, step change in capability / performance, etc.

• Demonstrated track record (Performance Results and People Development).
• Experience in operations and/or engineering with progressive responsibilities.
• Demonstrate ability in diagnosing and identifying lean improvement opportunities in operation with 3+ years experiences.

Desired Skills:

• Experience across multiple organizations/plants.
• Knowledge of manufacturing accounting and control.
• Knowledge of manufacturing excellence tools (AME, KT, Lean).
• Experience with cross-functional collaboration.
• Lean/IE audit experience in manufacturing systems.
• Certified Green Belt.
• Data analytical software (SPSS, Minitab, SPC XL).
