Scope of Position:

Develop fundamental understanding of fiber processes with a focus on fiber draw process; identify and develop new processes to make next generation waveguide products; optimize processes to improve product attributes and/or reduce manufacturing cost.

Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Designing experiments and analyzing data
  • Developing process fundamental understanding
  • Developing new analytical tools or utilizing existing tools to support process development
  • Participating cross functional project teams
  • Communicating and documenting technical results

Required Skills:

  • PhD in Optics, Physics, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering or equivalent with 0-2 years’ experience or a Master's degree with 5+ years of industry experience
  • Demonstrated experience and strong technical knowledge in cross disciplined science
  • Experience with high temperature processing and impact on material properties

  • Experience and interest to design and carry out hands on experimentation
  • Experience in initiating research activities
  • Innovative thinking and creative
  • Understand value of using modeling as well as characterization tools
  • Ability to work both independently and with diverse teams

  • Strong organization skills, ability to manage multiple tasks
