PURPOSE OF POSITION

Support deployment of new, innovative, and challenging technologies as a member of the Forming Design team responsible for the detailed design of Display Technologies Fusion Draw Process Equipment. This includes design support for repairs, expansions, and technology improvements to the existing platforms and project support for the key initiatives for the division. Position focus will be on implementation of robust, cost-effective process machine systems in Corning’s manufacturing plants.

EDUCATION, SKILLS and EXPERIENCE

• AAS Mechanical Technology or equivalent discipline

• 3-5 years related experience in design or engineering support role

• Experience with 3D CAD software. 2D CAD, AutoCAD, Solidworks preferred

• Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing proficiency

• Knowledge of standard machining processes

• Ability to organize and effectively manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision

• Ability to lead international teams across multiple initiatives that span various lines of business,

geographic borders, time zones, and cultures

DESIRED SKILLS

• High temperature equipment design experience

• Familiarity with metal and ceramic fabrication processes

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Work with experienced Engineers to complete process equipment design and drawing detailing

• Evaluating the viability of incoming design changes and actively participating in design reviews

• Interacting with domestic and international operation sites and our Science and Technology Division

• Adherence to department drawing and file standards

• Developing scope of work documents for suppliers for quotes, purchase orders, and repairs.

• Technical representation for the FDM group at Design Reviews, Potential Problem Analysis reviews as

well as the everyday design issues common within the department.
