Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Purpose of the Position:

The Wireless Engineering Team is responsible for providing Radio Frequency Designs to support Corning Wireless In-Building solutions such as the SpiderCloud ERAN, Corning ONE DAS, Everon 6000, 6200, and Mobile Access Legacy DAS product lines. The Radio Frequency Engineer will be accountable for the planning, implementation, and tracking of deployment projects of Corning Wireless networks in carrier and enterprise sites throughout the United States. This includes working with Field Engineers, Solution Engineers, Support Engineers, third-party system integrators, major wireless carriers, and customer enterprise IT departments. In this role, candidates may be expected to attend site surveys, develop design requirements and specifications, supervise the creation of DAS and small cell designs (iBwave tool) with propagation plots, and prepare technical proposals. They will be responsible for both performing iBwave designs as well as setting standards for iBwave designs and reviewing external iBwave designs.

Key Tasks:

• Quality control of designs for Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS) and Small Cells for all wireless opportunities from third party vendors and customers using iBwave software

• Create DAS and Small Cell systems designs using iBwave software and related modules with propagation plots

• Define Radio Frequency requirements based on processed macro benchmark data

• Review/Validate CW testing, as necessary

• Create/customize Radio Frequency Link Budgets

• Provide technical support for CMA DAS and Radio Frequency related questions related to designs

• Ensure that all projects are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget

• Manage changes to the project scope, project schedule, and project costs using appropriate verification techniques

• Evaluate the outcomes of the project as established during the planning phase

Minimum Qualifications:

• Proven technical background, preferably in the fields of telecommunications or engineering

• Fiber optic knowledge and familiarity

• Strong background in structured cabling standards and applications

• Skilled in creating designs using iBwave software within the wireless telecommunications sector

• Has worked in LTE or UMTS wireless networks

• Working knowledge of iBwave vex file creation

• Working knowledge of Radio Frequency propagation theory, link budgets, antennas, amplifiers, and transmission lines

• Previous iBwave experience with DAS and small cell design (any vendor/OEM)

• Skilled in modeling and designing large venue solutions

• Strong understanding of Wireless technologies and current trends with practical knowledge of Cellular networks, protocols, and systems

• Ability to work independently/autonomously and handle multiple tasks simultaneously

• Desire to learn new products and technologies

• Positive attitude while working among multi-functional teams

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience

Travel:

Up to 25% domestic travel may be required

The range for this position is $90,000.00 - $125, 000.00. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
