Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and Analysis: Designing control systems and analyzing their performance to ensure they meet the required specifications

• Programming and Optimization: Writing and optimizing code to implement control algorithms, often using languages like Python, and tools like OpenCV for vision processing

• Hardware Interaction: Working with hardware including microcontrollers (like ESP32), robots, sensors, and actuators to develop and implement control solutions

• Testing and Troubleshooting: Testing control systems to ensure they perform as expected, and troubleshooting issues when they arise

• Collaboration and Documentation: Collaborating with other team members, and documenting system designs, code, and other aspects of the control systems development process

Qualifications:

• Solid programming skills in Python

• Experience with ESP32 microcontrollers and OpenCV is desirable

• Familiarity with 6-axis robots and related software such as ROS is a plus

• Basic understanding of version control systems like Git

• Effective communication skills and a collaborative mindset
